Crowds brave cold weather ( admin posted on June 13th, 2018 )

IT WASN’T quite a white Christmas, but the weather braved by those at Christmas carols in Devonport last night was frightful.

A large crowd attended carols at Devonport’s Roundhouse Park, presented by Soroptimist International Devonport and the Lions Club of Devonport.

Last year Shayne Lowe was the carols musical director, this year has been less stressful, preparing two groups from Do it with Pizazz, of which she is the director.

“It’s very different. Normally I’m here from 9o’clock. This year I didn’t have to be hear until two,” she said with a laugh.

Ms Lowe’s performers, roughly 30 students aged seven to 17, thrilled those in attendance with renditions of Rudolph and Jingle Bells.

Crowds gathered to watch the performances at the Devonport carols by candlelight last night.

People at the Penguin carols enjoyed the warmth of the Penguin Community Centre at the Penguin Primary School.
