Parkes dominate Lachlan selections ( admin posted on June 13th, 2018 )

The tennis year is finished for almost everyone.

Emily Thomson and Jake Magill are hard at it, training in preparation to play some tournaments over the next few weeks.

Emily is in Melbourne this week, trying to qualify for the Australian Nationals.

The draw was released Saturday afternoon and Emily is expected to win four matches to advance to the main draw commencing next weekend.

Meanwhile Jake is in Bathurst competing today in the opening round of their Optus Junior Tour event.

He is scheduled to play at 8.30am this morning then again at 12.30pm.

Jake will enjoy Christmas then head to Gosford for their unique mentor event.

That is where coaches can sit courtside with players during the tournament which is a great opportunity for the young players.

Jake’s coach Helen Magill is unavailable so Ryan Slarks from the Blue Mountains is going to help Jake out at this event.

The Lachlan trials were held last Friday with four boys and four girls chosen to represent at the 2013 Western trials to be held in Bathurst in March.

Jake Magill and Ben Evans (Parkes East), Calum Weekes (Middleton) and Grady Magill (Parkes Public) reserve Josh Evans (Bogan Gate) all played some good tennis and performed well to make the Lachlan team.

In the girls it was a twin affair with Phoebe and Hannah Potts, Ashleigh and Cassie Ward all Parkes Public girls and reserve Chloe Drabsch also Parkes Public managing to defeat all other players to advance to the Western trials.

All eight players will have to put in some extra time on court over the January holidays to prepare for the trials during the middle of term one.

All the MLC Hot Shots lessons have finished now and everyone should have received their registration forms for next year which need to be returned by January 26.

The new t-shirts are still coming in with another box arriving on Friday. They will be distributed to all the recipients as soon as possible.

Anyone that may be interested in joining MLC Hot Shots which is for girls and boys aged 4-12 years can email [email protected]苏州美睫培训 and she will forward you further information.

There is no more free Fridays or Hot Shots Community Play until next February.

If anyone would like to practice during the holidays, they can obtain the key from Parkes Cellars.
